Covid-19 safe working procedure_Updated 21 Sept 2021


Purpose:
To operate safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At all alert levels, businesses need to meet all public health guidelines. These include the following, although they may change over time:

  • No direct contact with clients, use phones and email

  • Regular disinfecting of surfaces.

  • Encouraging good hand hygiene by allowing frequent hand washing and sanitising.

  • Not having sick people in the workplace.

  • Meeting physical distancing requirements.

  • Wearing of masks whilst at work.

Working under Covid-19 Alert Level 3:

  • Staff are not to come to work if suffering any flu like symptoms such as cold, cough, sore throat or elevated temperature. Please call your manager if you experience any of these symptoms or believe you may have come into contact with with someone who is suspected of having Covid-19.

  • All staff will be provided with their own Hand Sanitiser and Face Mask should be worn when visiting client’s gardens, as well as when visiting suppliers, transfer station, or any other indoor space.

  • Wearing of the mask is legally required by the government please refer to https://covid19.govt.nz/health-and-wellbeing/protect-yourself-and-others-from-covid-19/wear-a-face-covering/ for the latest information.

  • Staff are to use hand sanitiser regularly and in particular just before entering and straight after exiting a client’s property and prior to eating or drinking.

  • Upon entering a client’s property any gate / door handles, or other hard surfaces need to be touched by Newhaven Gardens Limited (NGL) staff should first be disinfected with the surface spray provided.

  • Maintain a 2 meter minimum distance at all times except for in the case of an emergency when someones safety is at risk.

  • Upon exiting a client’s property any gate / door handles, or other hard surfaces that have been touched by NGL staff are to be disinfected with the surface spray provided.

Travel/Vehicles:

  • Under level 3, only one team member is permitted per vehicle.

  • If using public transport you must wear a face mask and we recommend you also utilise one of the hand sanitisers provided by NGL, and ensure you sit or stand at least 2m away from other commuters, sanitise your hands after touching any surfaces (rails, seat etc), and again once disembarking the bus; and refrain from touching your face.

Social Distancing:

  • Do not enter the clients house unless in an emergency. 

  •  Do not knock on client’s door, instead text or call upon arrival to property.

  • If the client would like to discuss anything please ensure you maintain a 2m minimum distance or ideally we can call them whilst on the property to discuss.

  • Maintain 2m distance – unless in an emergency situation where someone’s health or safety is in danger.

Care of equipment:

  • Each staff member is to be allocated their own hand tools and PPE (safety glasses, safety boots, knee pads etc.) and these are to remain their tools until they need to be replaced.

  • Hand tools and PPE to be disinfected with the surface spray provided at the end of each day.

  • Larger tools and power tools to be disinfected with the surface spray provided prior to each use and again after each use.

  • Gloves to be worn at all times, used gloves to be bagged and returned for sanitising at the end of each day.

Contact tracing register

  • NGL is responsible for maintaining a register of all appointments, including the following information at a minimum: Client’s name, phone number, email address, physical address, date and time of appointment, contact details of staff member(s) attending.

Incident reporting:

All incidents regarding breaches to the above procedures to be reported immediately to your manager.
